Bamboo & Rope Chandelier

The Bamboo & Rope Chandelier makes its central material part of the lighting experience. The bamboo body is carefully worked and carved by hand, with individual openings cut into its surface. Rather than remaining a solid support, it becomes a textured element through which the light can be seen.

Two bulbs inside the bamboo illuminate those hand-carved holes, creating the glowing effect described in the original design. The openings give the central body its own presence when the chandelier is switched on. This detail brings a more layered atmosphere than the hanging shades could create on their own.

Three woven lampshades, handmade by artisans in Bali, complete the composition. Their natural textures sit alongside the bamboo and rope, bringing softness and variation to the piece. Artessy's combination of these elements places hand craftsmanship at the centre of the chandelier rather than treating it as a finishing detail.

Consider it above a dining arrangement, within a lodge lounge or in a coastal guesthouse with restrained finishes. Bamboo and woven texture could complement natural timber, simple walls and an uncluttered setting. The aim is a warm, tropical atmosphere in which the carved body and each of the three shades can be appreciated.
