Simba Children’s Wardrobe

A children’s room is full of small beginnings: the first favourite book, a costume for an imagined adventure, clothes that seem to become too small overnight. This wardrobe gives those everyday things a home while bringing a story of its own into the room. A bright green ground and lively jungle painting turn useful storage into something a child can look at, recognise and enjoy.

Only Mpofu painted this piece by hand. Simba and his jungle companion share the doors with leaves and branches, while the botanical details continue across the furniture. The original timber form and gold-toned handles remain part of its character, joining the painted scene to a practical object.

Inside, a hanging rail sits alongside two shelves that create three storage bays. Two lower drawers offer another place for folded clothes and little belongings. The open-door photograph shows this arrangement, so the interior is as much a part of the wardrobe’s story as its colour.
