Festival Bloom Chest of Drawers

Each drawer has its own colour and arrangement of painted detail, but the four bands belong to one lively composition. Flowers, small paisley forms and fine white marks follow the undulating drawer fronts. Only Mpofu works around the furniture's curves, allowing the shape of the chest to influence how the pattern is seen across its width.

Warm wood corner posts and a darker outer frame provide a visual pause around the bright painting. Ornate gold-toned handles and central key plates add another layer of detail, while a shaped lower apron and carved claw feet continue the furniture's expressive silhouette. Painted side panels extend the decoration beyond the front, rewarding a view from an angle.

For a room idea, pair Festival Bloom with a straightforward bed, plain upholstery or a quiet stretch of wall. One textile in blue or pink could connect to the painting without introducing another busy motif. The four drawers make it useful storage, while the combination of colour, curved furniture and small painted details gives it a role as the room's focal piece.
