Khoisan Story Console

The Khoisan Story Console tells its story through figures rather than a single portrait. Human silhouettes and animals appear in movement across the composition, suggesting journeys, hunting, gathering, dancing and life in rhythm with nature. The sequence invites a closer look at the connections between people, animals and the landscape.

Earthy wood tones give the painting warmth, while red and black geometric borders create a strong frame around the narrative. A central sun detail brings another point of energy to the composition. Together, these elements suggest open landscapes, memory and a relationship with the land, giving the console its distinctive character.

The piece is hand-painted by Only Mpofu and bears his artistic signature, ONLY. Individual marks and painted details make it an original Artessy artwork as well as a functional table. Its story is built into the furniture, inviting attention to the figures and patterns rather than relying on added decoration around it.

Consider it in an entrance or hallway where the artwork can offer a warm first impression. In a lodge, guesthouse or boutique hotel reception, it could bring a sense of place to the welcome. Keeping accessories restrained would allow the human and animal silhouettes to remain readable and the painted journey to lead the setting.
