Flamingo Garden Wardrobe

The charcoal background gives the green foliage, pink flamingo and scarlet bird a clear stage. Leaves overlap across the lower doors, while the bird above adds an upward movement to the composition. Only Mpofu extends the garden onto the visible sides, making the painting part of the whole wardrobe rather than a picture confined to its front.

The original carved tulips remain visible within the upper door panels, and gold-toned handles sit between the painted forms. These details connect the bright imagery to the shaped timber furniture beneath it. Inside, a green finish continues the colour around a hanging rail and three drawers, providing a practical interior behind the expressive two-door front.

As a room idea, the wardrobe could be paired with plain linen, dark timber and one restrained green textile. Keeping nearby patterns simple would allow the leaves and birds to be the main visual event. In a bedroom or dressing space, it offers a way to bring tropical colour into daily routines without needing a separate wall painting to establish the mood.
