Octopus Dresser & Mirror

An octopus moves across the drawers in curling tentacles and vivid colour. Only Mpofu’s hand-painted sea creature gives this orange dresser a sense of motion, drawing the eye from one drawer to the next. The painting belongs to the furniture’s rhythm, sharing its surface with the original handles and making the whole front read as one expressive composition.

Above it, a tall mirror rises between shaped timber supports and an ornate crown. Small drawers sit beside the mirror, while the broad base holds two small upper drawers and two wider lower drawers. The photographed brass handles, low plinth and curved details carry the furniture’s earlier character into its painted life.

The contrast is what makes the piece memorable: flowing painted forms against a structured dresser, bright orange alongside cooler accents, a lively creature beneath a quiet reflection. It offers practical storage while giving a dressing ritual a more imaginative setting. The integrated mirror keeps the complete piece visually connected from base to crown.

Place it in a bedroom, dressing room or distinctive guest suite where the full silhouette has room to be seen. Its colour can also inspire a hospitality interior with a confident personality.
