Old Soul Reclaimed Timber Pendant

Long before it became a lamp, this wood had already lived through centuries. Its grain, worn surface and irregular edges carry the character of solid timber shaped by time. Artessy reclaimed the material and gave it a new purpose, allowing that long history to remain visible rather than smoothing it into something anonymous.

We sculpted and cut the wood by hand, opening the substantial beam into an expressive form. Each opening changes the way the timber is seen: weight becomes space, a rough edge becomes a line, and the grain continues around the carved passages. The work follows the material’s own character, keeping the marks that make the piece recognisable.

Three lights sit within and beneath the sculpted timber, bringing a warm glow to the openings and illuminating the wood from a different direction. In daylight, the beam reads as a natural sculpture. After dusk, its hollows and edges become part of the light itself. The past remains in the material while its use belongs to the present.

Suspended above a dining setting, a furnished living space or a hospitality table, this pendant can give a room a strong centre of attention. It is a statement built from what was worth saving.
