A large reclaimed hardwood root becomes the centrepiece of this generous glass dining table. More than six months of Artessy handwork revealed its curves, knots and sculptural form while preserving the wild character of the fallen tree.
Enquire about this pieceEnquire by emailThe story
The Reclaimed Root Dining Table starts with an exceptionally large natural root recovered from a fallen tree. Its material already carried a strong organic form before the furniture was made. Recovery gives that wood a new purpose, keeping its natural character at the centre of a table designed for gathering.
More than six months of work went into cleaning, refining, shaping and preparing the root for its final form. That patient process reveals the curves, knots and textures without making the base look uniform. The finished piece holds onto the movement of the original wood, giving it the presence of a large natural sculpture.
The clear glass top allows the root to remain visible while providing a generous dining surface. Measuring 250 cm long and 145 cm wide, the table seats up to eight people. The contrast between clear glass and reclaimed hardwood balances a practical place for shared meals with the distinctive structure below.
Consider it for a spacious home, lodge dining room or boutique restaurant where the base has room to be seen. Simple seating could leave the reclaimed form as the main feature. The table's story speaks of nature's patience, strength and connection to the earth, qualities expressed through the visible material and the time invested in its transformation.
